- Jo Ann Graves McWhorter, 43, of Tioga, died on Friday, January 4,
2008 in Tioga. She was born on June 30 1964 in Denton to Joe and
Nadine Bradford Graves. She married Joe McWhorter on August 16,
1986 in Tioga. She attended Tioga Elementary School and
Collinsville High School. She attended TWU in Denton from
1982 to 1986 and graduated with a BS in Nursing. From 1999 to
2001 she earned her Masters degree in Nursing and obtained her Nurse
Practitioner Degree in 2002. She worked at Parkland Hospital in
Dallas from May of 1986 to October of 2007. She was Advance
Practice Nurse of the Year in 2007 at Parkland. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey, Toby Osburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Tioga Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She is survived by her husband, Joe, of Tioga; two daughters, Caitlin and Callie of Tioga, and one son, Aaron of Tioga. She is also survived by her parents, Joe and Nadine Graves of Tioga; brothers: Curtis and wife Debbie Graves of Collinsville; Raymond and wife Melodie Graves of Collinsville; nephews: Jason Graves of Collinsville, Chris Graves of Denton; Wade Graves of Collinsville and Jaden Jackson of Tioga; and two nieces: Brandi Graves and Jaliya Jackson, both of Tioga. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Services are under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, Texas.
