Tioga Girl Takes Acid and Dies in Short Time
Sherman, September 5 - Because she faced the prospect of being committed to the State Training School for Girls at Gainesville, Alice Milner, 14-year-old girl of Tioga, drank carbolic acid at Tioga Sunday afternoon and died there Sunday night, according to word received by local officers Monday morning.
County Probation Officer John Moore expected to go to Tioga Monday morning to take the girl in charge.  He received a phone message Sunday from a Tioga officer requesting him to come for the girl.  Sunday at midnight he was advised that he need not make the trip as the girl had died.
The Milner girl bought the carbolic acid at a Tioga drug store Sunday afternoon and drank it, officers state.  She lived for several hours, but made no statement it is said.  A note was found after her death.
