'Thurman' Sturdy, 85 of Grand Prairie, died Thursday at his daughter's home in Haskell. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Eighth Street Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. Burial will be in Tioga Cemetery in Tioga, Texas. Arrangements are by Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home. Mr. Sturdy was born in Gunter, the son of G. P. Sturdy and Annie Cox Sturdy and attended Gunter schools. He was employed by Mayflower Storage in Dallas for many years, and was a member of the Eight Street Baptist Church. Surviving are his son, Lonnie Sturdy of Irving,; daughter, Charlene Therwhanger of Haskell; sisters, Lola Cook of Pilot Point, Winnie Kemp of Tioga, Maurine Gages and Doris Barlow, both of Gunter, and Ruth Burns of Cannon; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
