Eddie passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at his residence.  He was born November 15, 1924 in Gunter to W.T. and Elnora Ketner Gressett.  While on leave from Ft. Hood he married Dorothy Mae Raulston on April 10, 1945, in Durant, Oklahoma.
He attended Gunter schools, served in the United States Army from 1944 - 1946 where he spent time in the Philippines and Korea during WWII.  He was discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He was proud to be a decorated veteran, having served his country.  After his service in the military he started farming; while farming, he also worked at Humble Oil Company in Sherman, driving a gasoline truck, followed by Burlington Industries for several years where he made many lifetime friends.
Eddie was a Christian man, a loving and faithful husband and a God-fearing daddy that always took his family to church.  He was a grateful and perfect Pawpaw according to his grandkids, the best Pawpaw that ever was.  A caring brother, uncle and trusted friend and neighbor to many.  He never met a stranger; he loved everyone he knew and everyone that knew him loved him back.  One of Eddie's joys in life was farming and ranching.  This was his way of life and his heaven on earth.  He loved his church family at Mt. Carmel Baptist where he was a member for 65 years and a deacon since August 1960.  Over the years Eddie served as song leader, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and preached when called upon.  Eddie loved to sing and loved to hear good singing.  He touched many lives and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gressett of Collinsville; sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and VIckie Gressett of Dorchester; Kenny and Bess Gressett of Gunter; Gary and Donna Gressett of Collinsville.  Daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Less Allen of Sherman; Brend and Glen Culp of Southmayd.  Grandchildren: David Gressett of Beaumont, Dana and Darren Triplett of Aubrey, Jody Gressett and fiance Jennifer of Lake Dallas, Jeff Allen and fiance Andrea of Sherman, Becky and MIkey Jefferson of Sherman, Zach Allen of Tioga, Ashley and Cote Sutton of Collinsville, Kaci and Brent Stafford of McKinney, Ashley Orsburn of Collinsville, Matt Mordecai of Dallas, Shelley and Derek Powell of Collinsville and Michael and Carla Fisher of Sherman; ten great-grandchildren.  Brothers: Ray Gressett of Southmayd, Dave and his wife Betty Gressett of Tioga; sisters: Dessie Haker of Sachse and Vera Skipworth of Sherman.  Sister-in-law, Thelma Gressett of Whitesboro.  Several nieces and nephews.
