Sherman - Mass of Christian Burial for Isidoro Gonzalez Almazan will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Mr. Almazan passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center at the age of 65.
Mr. Almazan is survived by daughters, Rosalinda Vazquez of Sherman and Lucy Gonzalez of Denison; sons, Isidoro Almazan Jr. and Steven Almazan, both of Sherman; sisters, Maria Vasquez, Ulalia Garza and Virginia Sandoval, all of Brownsville; brother, Pilar Almazan of Brownsville; 14 grandchildren, six great grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at Friday at the funeral home.




Flora was born in Harlingen, Texas to the late Cipriano and Rosallia (Gonzalez) Guillermo. Mrs. Almazan passed away at the age of 77 at the Homestead of Sherman, Texas.
She married Isidoro Almazan on 24 January 1965 in Brownsville, Texas, and the couple was blessed with four children.
They moved to Sherman in 1978 and Flora became very involved in the Hispanic community. She did interpreting and worked as a florist for many years. A devout Catholic she had been an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Sherman for over 30 years.
Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, Flora is survived by her husband Isidoro of Sherman; two daughters, Rosalinda Vasquez and husband Rodolfo of Sherman and Lucy Gonzalez of Denison, Texas; two sons, Isidoro Almazan, Jr. and Steven Almazan, both of Sherman; fourteen grandchildren, Jonathan, Rueben, Jacey, Rodolfo, Jr., Lucy Marie, Jessica, Jesus, Jr., Tori, Alyssa, Isadoro III, Mateo, Norma, Angelina, and Steven, Jr.; six great grandchildren, Jose Angel, Joel, Sergio, Marisol, Claudia Rae, Natalia; one sister, Janie Morales of Brownville, Texas; and one brother, Homero Guillermo of Bells, Texas.
A rosary was recited by Father Antonio Aureus and Deacon Tomas Avila at Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman.
A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Jeremy Myers, officiating, assisted by Deacon Tomas Avila.
Burial follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with Jonathan Ramirez, Rueben Ramirez, Jesus Gonzalez, Jr., Homero Guillermo, Steven Almazan, and John Troxell serving as pallbearers.
