Mrs. Zoda was born in Smith County, Mississippi to the late Tyree and Myra (Hughes) Winstead. She passed away at the Stonebrook Assisted Living Center, Denison, Texas.
She graduated from high school in Richland, Texas and attended beauty school for two years in Corsicana, Texas.
On 16 January 1942 she and Harry Lester Zoda were married in Corsicana. Subsequently, in 1949 Harry and Sarah adopted a daughter, Katherine, who was proudly labeled the "joy of their life".
While their husbands served during WWII, Sarah and her sister Ethel owned and operated a beauty shop in Wortham, Texas.
In 1962 the family moved to Sherman where Sarah became active in real estate sales. She later joined Dean Gilbert Realty, retiring in 1985.
In retirement Harry and Sarah traveled the country in a 35' motor home. Sarah loved to travel, play games, and write, publishing a book titled "Stories of Yesteryear".
Mrs. Zoda was a longtime member of Parish, Sherman, Texas and was active in the Legion of Mary program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Jerome Winstead and Robert Sullivan.
Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, Mrs. Zoda is survived by her daughter Katherine A. Moore and husband Frank of Sherman; one grandson, Stephen Moore of Sherman; two sisters, Ethel Goolsby of Wortham, Texas and Mary Howell of Huntsville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited by Deacon John LeBlanc at Waldo Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Church by the Rev. Jeremy Myers, pastor of the Parish, assisted by Deacons Tomas Avila and John LeBlanc.
Mrs. Zoda's nephews served as pallbears.
