Thursday, December 3, 1942 pg. 5 Sherman - Alvin Watson "Jinks" Newman, 44, employee of the Hardwicke-Etter Company for the past 18 years died suddenly at 3:30 p.m. Monday at his home, 519 South Elm. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Dr. J.A. Ellis, pastor, officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Newman was born August 4, 1898 in Leonard, son of John N. and Etta Carroll Newman. He married Miss Kathryn Bowman April 5, 1920 in Sherman, and they moved here from Trenton in 1921. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving besides his widow are his parents of Trenton; 2 sons, A.W. Newman of the Navy and James R. Newman of Sherman; 2 daughters, Mrs. L.H. Noble, Jr. of Ft. Worth and Miss Cherrie Marie Newman of Sherman; 2 brothers, C.W. Newman of Trenton and Robert Newman of Huntsville; 4 sisters, Mrs. Grave Stuteville of Whitewright, Mrs. O.C. Dunsworth of Mansfield, Louisiana, Mrs. Don Bailey of Sherman, and Mrs. Edgar Bow of Whitewright; and a granddaughter, Barbara Jinks Noble of Ft. Worth.  Charles "Bud" Newman 13 May 1930 - 17 January 2021 Wathina Johnson Newman 19 March 1932 - 20 August 2002 wed 19 February 1951  Private family services for Charles Elmer "Bud" Newman were held at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Newman, 90, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center. Bud was born Mary 13, 1930 in Hugo, Oklahoma, son of Othel and Cecelia Graf Newman. He worked as a barber for 62 years in Sherman and was an avid motorcycle rider. Mr. Newman is survived by his two sons, David Newman and wife, Sherry, of Rockwall, Texas; and Steve Newman of Sherman; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jean LaFollett of Frisco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Wathina Johnson Newman.
