Will Hold Funeral of Sherman Lawyer

Special to the News- Sherman, Texas - Oct. 13
Funeral services for Cecil H. Smith, 66 years old, Sherman attorney and Democratic party leader of State and Democratic party leader of State and National reputation, who died suddenly in his office here Thursday, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. 
Complete arrangements, however, await the arrival in Sherman Thursday morning. Mrs. Smith was on her way to Detroit, Mich., when death came to her husband. She returned home, reaching Sherman Wednesday afternoon.
The body was placed in a casket Wednesday and conveyed to the family home, 900 South Crockett Street, where it will lie in state until the funeral hour.
His son, Cecil H. Smith Jr. of Fort Worth, arrived here Tuesday night. His daughter and son in law, Mrs. and Mrs. Wayne A. Hearne of Los Angeles, Cal., were here at the time of Mr. Smith's death. A message from the Rev. Hubert M. Smith of San Antonio, pastor of one of the Methodist Churches of that city, a brother, said that he would arrive in Sherman Wednesday night. It is expected that the Rev. Lawrence W. Smith of Woodstock, Md., a son, will be here for the funeral. W. Jarrel Smith, youngest son, is an attorney and was in the office with his father.

Cecil H. Smith buried in Sherman Cemetery
Special to the News, Sherman, Texas, Oct 16 - Funeral services for Cecil H. Smith, who died Friday afternoon at the family home here, conducted by the Rev. John Allard, pastor of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. 

The members of the Grayson Bar Association and of the Collin Bar Association met at the courthouse and attended the funeral in a body.
Following the services at the residence, burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in South Sherman.
The funeral was one of the most largely attended ever held in Sherman. Perhaps more than a hundred people from outside points attended.
