FRANK JOSEPH “Buck” SALER
16 July 1920 - 31 January 2002


1st Lt Saler was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Joseph P. and Emma (Hacker) Saler.  He died at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital, Sherman, Texas. 
He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Ironton, Ohio and attended the University of Maryland. 
On 2 February 1943, he married Miss Helen Josephine Hart in Riverside, California. 
1st Lt. Saler retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1963 where he served as a bomber pilot and air traffic controller. After his military retirement he continued his civil service career as a procurement agent for the Defense Logistics Agency.  He retired from Civil Service in 1982. 
Buck was a member of 
St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Sherman, past Grand Knight and past District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife. 
He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Lambert of Sherman, Mary Ruth Holub and husband Ron of Kingwood, Texas, Ann Williams and husband Patrick of Wauseon, Ohio, Beth Saler of San Diego, California, and Ellen Saler-Santine of Dallas, Texas; brother, William Saler of Hunington, West Virginia; sister Margaret Hixon of Ironton; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at Dannel Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Jeremy Myers celebrated Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sherman.  Internment with military honors was accorded at the graveside.

Mrs. Saler was born in Ashland, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Mary Etta (Lang) Hart. She passed away at Wilson N Jones Medical Center, Sherman, Texas
Helen graduated from Holy Family High School in 1941.
On 2 February 1943, she married Frank J. Saler at March Field, Riverside, California. Their union lasted fifty-seven years and was blessed with seven children.

The Saler's moved to Sherman, Texas in 1984 from Columbus, Ohio.
Helen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish, Sherman, Columbian Ladies and St. Mary's Women's Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, William Saler.
She is survived by her husband Frank of Sherman; six daughters, Martha E. Urbanik of West Lake, California, Victoria J. Lambert of Ashland, Kentucky, Ann F. Williams of Wauseon, Ohio, Elizabeth Saler of San Diego, California, Ellen Saler of Webster, Texas and Mary R. Holub of Kingwood, Texas; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Lang of Ashland, Kentucky and Esther Young of Ludlow, Kentucky.

Pallbearers were members of the Knights of Columbus, Bill Arend, Ed Szafranski, Wayne Kottwitz, Leo Lehman, Gerry Leroche and Bernard Sandman.
