Jessie Benton Abell, 60, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Dorn, 1102 South Austin, Wednesday after an illness of several days with pneumonia.  Funeral services will be held from St. Mary's church at 9 a.m. Thursday,  conducted by the Rev. Joseph O'Donohoe.  Rosary service will be held at 7:30  p.m. Wednesday at the Talley Funeral home.  Interment will be in St. Mary's  cemetery.

Mr. Abell was born in Hardensburg, Kentucky the son of Dr. A.I. & Katheryn (O'Neal) Abell. He died in Sherman, Texas at the home of his daughter Mrs. Mary M. Dorn after an illness of several days with pneumonia.
He married Miss Aletha Beatrice Cummings on 3 July 1900. He moved to Grayson County, Texas in 1905. He was a contractor by trade.
Mr. Abell was a charter member of St. Mary's Knights of Columbus, Council #1289 in Sherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Aletha who died in 1905.
Surviving relatives included one son, W. R. Abell of Vernon, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Dorn of Sherman; two sisters, Mrs. F.S. Winsatt of Denison, Texas and Mrs. Blanche Hill of Owensboro, Kentucky' one brother, Raymond Abell of Jerome, Arizona; and five grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at Talley Funeral Home, Sherman.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Reverend Joseph O'Donohoe officiating.
Pallbearers were George Hoye, J.E. Williams, Con Corcoran, Adrian O'Hanlon, Si Wheat, Charley Walcott and John Arnold.
