Irving, Texas - David Vincent Wright, 78, of Irving was called home by his Lord and Savior May, October 11, 2021.
He was born August 7, 1943 in Richmond, California, son of Oleta Leon Wright of Tishomingo, Oklahoma and George Vincent Wright of Sherman, Texas, who have preceded him in death.
His family moved to Irving in 1950 where he grew up. He graduated from Irving High School in 1961. David attended the University of Texas, Arlington before enlisting in the Navy reserves.   While in the reserves, he started working for Texas Instruments at the age of 19.  He was called to active duty during the Vietnam War where he assisted with the war efforts.  After the war he returned to Texas Instruments and began night school at the University of Texas, Dallas where he graduated with honors.  He became a Quality Assurance Engineer and retired after 35 years of employment with them.  David came out of retirement and worked for Ericsson for another 5 years until he fully retired.
He was a Boy Scout in his younger years.  He played little league and High School baseball, which provided him the opportunity to play professionally.  He was a car enthusiast and sill had his '56 Ford Crown Victoria that he received for graduation and had a '55 Ford Victoria that he refurbished for racing.  He was a  member of the Carbo-Raiders car club in the 60s.  He was also a part of a custom van car club in the 70s and 80s where he customized vans for show and competition around the U.S. He was fortunate to have married twice in his lifetime, planting roots in Irving, Texas, where he lived and passed.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Wright-Velazquez of Roanoke, Texas; son, Jeffrey Wright of Irving, Texas; his sister and husband, Patti and Joseph Herbert of Irving, Texas; nephew, Baron Lane of McKinney, Texas; niece, Christy Lane of Bogata, Texas; his grandchildren: Anthony Hopper of Iowa; Daniel Wright of California; Melissa Pena of Iowa; Alex Velazquez of Texas; David Wright of Texas; and Jeffrey Wright of Texas; great-grandchildren: Logan , Liam and Bailey.
Funeral Mass Services were held Friday morning, October 15, 2021 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Sherman, Texas. Burial followed at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.
