Funeral services for Mrs. Lela A. Simpson, who died Wednesday, were held at 3 o'clock at the Church of Christ at Pilot Grove.  Interment was at Smith Cemetery, south of Pilot Grove, under the direction of Glen Earnheart.
Mrs. Simpson was a native of the Pilot Grove community.  She was born February 2, 1880, daughter of J.W. and Rena Simpson.  She was married to Wylie C. Simpson December 22, 1901.  She was an active member of the Church of Christ at Pilot Grove untile her health failed.  She had been a member of the church since girlhood.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her husband; five sons and two daughters, Jim Simpson, route 2, Van Alstyne; T.R. "Ted" Simpson, route 4, Sherman; Ben Simpson, route 1, Whitewright; Grady Simpson, route 1, Van Alstyne; Guy Simpson, Westminster; Mrs. Rena McFerrin, route 1, Anna; and Mrs. Cecil Brown, route 2, Anna.  She is also survived by two brothers, Jim W. Simpson, Sherman, and Leo Simpson, Van Alstyne; and four sisters, Mrs. C.E. Talley, Thackerville, Oklahoma; Mrs. Martha Spencer, route 1, Whitewright; Mrs. Julia Ayers, Denison; and Mrs. Delia Simpson, route 1, Van Alstyne; and 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Wylie Curtis Simpson, 72, life-long resident of Pilot Grove, died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday at his home 10 miles southwest of Whitewright.  He had been in ill health for the past six months.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Pilot Grove Church of Christ with Stanley J. Lovett, minister of the Church of Christ at New London, officiating.  Burial was in Smith Cemetery, south of Pilot Grove, directed by Earnheart Funeral Home.
He was born January 25, 1875, at Pilot Grove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dickey Simpson.  He attended Oxford School at Pilot Grove.  Mr. Simpson was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.
Pallbearers were Charlie Kaiser, Wes Judd, Lyndell Anderson, Austin Murphy, Bird Burchfield, and Herbert Taylor.
Survivors include five sons, Jim Simpson of Pilot Grove; Ted Simpson, Sherman, route 4; Ben Simpson, route 1, Whitewright; Grady Lee Simpon, route 1, Howe; and Guy Simpson, Sherman; two daughters, Mrs. Claude McFarrin and Mrs. Cecil Brown, both of Westminster; two brothers, Frank Simpson, Dallas, and Roe Simpson, Pilot Grove; and 26 grandchildren.
