Sherman - Roy Edwin Carney, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully at Nanaw's Place in Denison on Monday, November 19, 2018.  Roy had wonderful caregivers at Nanaw's and loved them all.  They loved him and spoiled him.
Roy was born on March 7, 1926, son of Roy and Olene Carney in Collinsville, Texas.  He was the only son of 5 children, with sisters, Gladys Nelson, Kathy Merrill, Betty Bridges and Peggy Harmon.
Roy was in the Navy in World War II, Seaman 1st Class.  He served from 1944 until 1946 on the USS Cottle.  He received 3 medals and one ribbon for his service.  He later worked at Collins Radio in Plano, Texas until he retired.
Roy loved people, his family and his dog.  He also loved playing dominoes with his wife and friends at the Sherman Senior Snap Center and was always the winner.  He enjoyed traveling with his family.  Roy had a big heart and helped those in need.  He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.
Roy leaves behind his beloved family - wife, Maxine, of Sherman; daughter, Sharlene Lowrey and husband, Jim, of Georgia; son, Danny Carney and wife, Cindy, of Denison; stepson, Joe Marvin Fulenchek and wife, Betty, of Denison; stepdaughter, Pam Kelly and husband, Larry, of Washington; sisters, Betty Bridges of Sherman; and Peggy Harmon and husband, Jackie, of Sherman; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special aunt, Jane Cranford, of Sadler, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Carney; second wife, Iva Carney; 2 sisters; one son; 3 nephews; and one niece.
Graveside services were held Saturday afternoon, November 24, 2018 at Sadler Cemetery.  Max Lash of the Wood St. Church of Christ officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nanaw's Place at 1100 W. Munson, Denison, Texas 75020. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
