Mail Carrier, Pioneer Auto Owner, Buried
Special to THE NEWS

SHERMAN, Texas, Dec. 9. - Funeral services for Henry Harvey Buckannan, 66, retired rural mail carrier, were held at the Sadler Baptist Church. Buckannan died Wednesday at his home.
Buckannan came to Grayson County from Arkansas more than fifty years ago. He was educated at the Basin Springs School. He had been a resident of Sadler for thirty-three years and was a member of the Christian Church.
He carried mail for thirty years on Sadler Route 2. He drove a horse and buggy on his route the first seven years he served, then bought a two-cylinder car, the first car in Sadler and the thirty-first bought in the county. Buckannan figured the horse made something like three trips around the world in terms of distance covered on his mail route.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James Adams and Miss Thelma and Miss Wilma Buckannan, all of Sadler; two sons, Frank and N. B. Buckannan of Sadler, and two brothers.
