Jackie Lynn Hughes was born July 15, 1946 in Sherman, Texas.  He was an easy-going man that was always trying to make people laugh.  He worked at KTII TV, and Burlington Industries in Sherman, Texas, until their closing then Cytech Fiberite in Greenville, Texas where he retired.  He had many hobbies including classic cars, collecting baseball cards, and playing (attempting to play) golf, photography and videography.  Many nights Jackie could be found in front of the TV with his best friend Shirlene Fitzgerald rooting for the Mavericks.  Jackie was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lelther "LA" and Ruby Hughes; and sister, Dorothy Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Shirlene Fitzgerald and her sons, Tony and Brian Fitzgerald of Greenville, Texas. And by his son, Joseph "Joey" and wife, Stephanie Lynn Hughes; daughters, Mary Pool, Elizabeth White, and Cynthia Witherspoon and husband, Joel; grandsons, Anthony Lockhart, Chris Newsom, David Newsom, Christian Ford, Austin Thompson, Andrew Burgess, Jr., Ryan Ayers and wife, Frankie; and Trace Ayers; granddaughters, Julie-Anne Newsom and Rachel Witherspoon-Mallcoat; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hughes passed away August 12, 2021.  Funeral services were held  Monday afternoon, August 16, 2021 at Waldo Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Sadler Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Fitzgerald, Joey Hughes, Terry Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Anthony Newsom and David Newsom.  Honorary pallbearers were Austin Thompson and Andrew Burgess.
