Virgil L. Jernigan, 51, owner and operator of the V.L. Jernigan Grain Company of Bells, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in a Sherman hospital after a week's illness of heart disease.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bells Methodist Church, directed by Earnheart.  The Masonic Lodge will have charge of the burial service at Rose Hill Cemetery at Bells.
Mr. Jernigan was born January 3, 1901 at Bells, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Jernigan.  He was married to Miss Amber Leona Parker on September 10, 1921.  He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the City of Bells Board of Aldermen.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Elbert Jernigan and Jerry Jernigan of Bells, and Amos Jernigan of the U.S. Navy; three daughters, Mrs. George Blackburn of Sterling City; Mrs. Rex Warren of Orlando, Florida; and Mrs. Jack Vineyard of Bells; four brothers, Cecil Jernigan of Bells; Elmer Jernigan of Lubbock; Earl Jernigan of Gallup, New Mexico; and Melvin Jernigan of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Houston Young of Bells; Mrs. Ervin O'Dell of San Diego, California; and Mrs. Clarence Moore of Denison; and two grandchildren.
