Bill Washburn, 63, of Bells, was seriously injured last Friday when a road grader he was operating rolled down the Yowell whiterock mound just east of Tom Bean.  The grader rolled from the mound on the east side, which is almost 100 feet high, and turned over several times.  Mr. Washburn was thrown from the cab of the grader as it rolled down the mound and was found in an unconscious condition some distance from the grader by Cecil Biggerstaff when he returned from lunch.  Mr. Washburn was still unconscious Wednesday and his condition remains critical.
He is a son of the late Dave Washburn, a former county commissioner, and a brother of John Washburn, also a former commissioner.
