SHERMAN – Funeral services for Mark Lyn Washburn, 60, were held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating, assisted by Rev. Jason Anderson. Interment followed the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bells.
He passed away on May 22, 2012 in Sherman.
Mark was born on January 31, 1952 to W.H. "Jack" and Alta Fay (Arnwine) Washburn in Bells. He was very involved in local, state and national politics. He was passionate about the pro-life movement. It was a personal victory for him when the Planned Parenthood (in Sherman, Texas) was closed down. He lived a full life. He was tenacious in facing his life's difficulties. He loved to talk. He was a dispatcher for the Grayson County and Cooke County Sheriff's Departments and also for Whitesboro, Iowa Park and Bowie Police Departments.
He is survived by his brothers, Bill Washburn and his wife, Shirley, of Bonham; Joe Washburn and his wife, Becky, of Bonham; and Dale Washburn and wife, Carol, of Whitesboro; sister-in-law, Linda Washburn; nieces and nephews, Tracy Washburn, Tamera Lorentz, Terry Washburn, Tisha Brown, Alicia Powell, Alison Godbey, Andrew Washburn, Kaley Washburn, and Lane Washburn; and special friend, Evonne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Washburn; and a niece, Debra Nault.
Pallbearers were Jackie Crisp, Billy Hampton, Audie Hall, Johnny Waldrip, Gene Lund, and Larry Millson.
