Funeral services were held at the Bells Baptist Church in Bells, Monday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Etta Cherry, 71, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, mother of J.C. Cherry and Mrs. W.R. Johnson of Denison, who died at her home Saturday, October 13 [sic], after three years of illness.  Rev. Ray Short of Sherman and Rev. J.E. King of Denison officiated at the services and interment was in Rosehill Cemetery at Bells, Bratcher-Moore, funeral directors, were in charge of arrangements for the funeral.
Mrs. Cherry was born in Jefferson county, Texas, August 1, 1880, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Stanley.  She was educated in Queen City, and was married July 11, 1895 to the late J.M. Cherry.  She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors aside from her son and daughter of Denison include five other sons, F.H. of Corpus Christi; C.F. of Dallas; H.S. of Carlsbad; R.J. of Dallas; and M.S. of Carlsbad; a daughter, Mrs. W.C. Smith of Carlsbad; three brothers, Frank Stanley of Carlsbad; Dallas Stanley of Acheson, Kansas; and Jessie Stanley of Beaumont, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Lora Stinson of Eldorado, Arkansas; Mrs. Dora White of Paris; and Mrs. D.W. Dickerman of Sherman; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
