Funeral services for David M. Roddy, who died at his home near Denison on Wednesday, April 9, after an illness of two months following a paralytic stroke, were held at the Bells Methodist Church Friday with Rev. R.L. Gilpin of Whitewright and Rev. M.C. Holt of Bells in charge.  Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Bells.
Special music was furnished by Mrs. Roby Childress of Whitewright, accompanied by Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, also of Whitewright.  Other numbers were given by the Bells choir, accompanied by Mrs. Agnes Oliver.
Pallbearers were P.H. Wilson, V.M. Dawson, Dan Dudley Dugan, and P.P. Mathews of Bells; W.H. Vest and P.D. Lazenby of Denison.
Mr. Roddy is survived by his wife; two sons, David F. Roddy of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lt. Lloyd Roddy of Sendai, Japan; one brother, W.S. Roddy of Bells; and one sister, Miss Mattie Roddy of Kilgore.
Included in those attending from out of town were the following: Dr. Wallace Kimbrough, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kimbrough, Mr. and Mrs. Hazen Armstrong, of Denton; Mrs. Amy Caruthers and Miss Sarah Ellis of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Walter Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Porterfield, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kimbrough, Miss Kate Fulton and Jim Savage, all of Sherman; Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Low of Ft. Worth; Miss Francis Low of Houston; Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Manzer of Garland; Mr. and Mrs. George West of Anna.

Mrs. Kathryn Roddy, 63, English teacher in the Whitewright High school, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday in a Denison hospital after a two-week illness.  She was stricken with a heart attack while en route from Denison to Whitewright.
Funeral services were held at Denison Wednesday afternoon and burial was in the Bells cemetery beside her husband, David M. Roddy, who died in 1947.
Mrs. Roddy was born January 3, 1892, in Iowa, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Low.  Her father was Katy Railroad agent here for a number of years preceding his death.  Mrs. Roddy received her college schooling at North Texas State College, Denton, and East Texas State Teachers College, Commerce.  She had taught in the Whitewright schools for more than 20 years, first in the elementary school for several years before being transferred to the high school because of her proficiency in English grammar.
Mrs. Roddy was married to Mr. Roddy at Garland in September 1918.  She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are two sons, David Roddy of Midland and Lloyd W. Roddy of Richland, Washington; a brother, D.E. Low, Jr. of Orange; and two sisters, Miss Frances Low of Houston and Mrs. H.A. Manzer of Garland.
