SHERMAN - Services for Stephen Allen Carter, 58, of Sherman were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Patrick Mead with the Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman and Rev. Morgan Malone with the
First Baptist Church in Bonham officiated the service. Burial followed at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Bells.

Stephen passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
He was born on June 22, 1950, in Marysville, California, son of James Sherman Carter and Margaret Neyman Carter. Stephen served in the United States Navy during Vietnam earning a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He also served on the USS Hornet Naval Ship that picked up the first Astronauts that walked on the moon. He was a member of the Harley Davidson owners group, the local association of Harley owners and the Patriot Guard. Stephen married Elizabeth Jones on July 5, 2003 in Bonham.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Carter of Sherman; daughter Shannon Anderson and husband, Jamie, of Orland, California; son, Brandon Carter and wife, Deanna, of Yuba City, California; stepdaughter, Jessica Roys and husband, Jeff, of Dodd City; stepson, Michael Partridge and wife, Laci, of Dodd City; stepdaughter, Cynthia Bailey and husband, Darrell, of Ambrose; brothers, Mike Carter and wife, Dot, of Big Springs; Randy Carter and wife, Barbara, of Newbern, North Carolina, and Tony Carter and wife, Karen, of Colfax, Washinfton. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Charles and Velma Carter, and Herbert and Lina Neyman; and his brother-in-law Johnnie Jones.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Soldiers Angels in care of Martha and Bill Neyman, 920 E. Centennial, Sherman, TX 75090.
