BELLS - Jackie passed away peacefully Monday, March 19, 2012 at The Willows in Sherman, Texas. She was born October 6, 1927 in Dallas. Jackie's life started in an orphanage called Hope Cottage. Her soon to be parents J.S. Patterson and Mildred Fowler Patterson decided to adopt a child since they could not have one. They went to Hope Cottage in Dallas, Texas looking for a dark haired child but as they were going in the building a little blonde haired girl put her arms up for them to hold her, so needless to say Jackie went home with J.S. and Mildred.
Jackie graduated from Bells High School and started attending Texas Woman's College in Denton, but after two years because of the War she started substitute teaching in Boyd, and then coming back to Bells High School. She started working at Associates in Denison, Texas and then went to work at Perrin Field as a payroll clerk. After the closing of Perrin Field Jackie worked as a purchasing agent at the Veterans Hospital in Bonham, Texas retiring in 1987. Jackie married Vernon Mullican in 1961 and she, Vernon and Clyde and Mary Alice Little built and opened Mullican-Little Funeral Home in January 1964. Jackie was a member of the Bells Church of Christ.
Surviving Jackie are her son David Singleton and his wife, Stephanie, of Bells; daughter, Jo Ann Rutledge and her husband, Jerry, of Savoy; brother Donald Patterson of Dallas; sister, Mary Ruth Ross of San Angelo; grandchildren Candice Faulkner and husband, John; Melody Singleton and Justin Bachman; Sunny Hill and Bobby Grove; Jarrett Rutledge; and Brandon Singleton and wife, Elyssa; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Charles Wrenn officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells/Savoy, Texas.
We would like to thank Grayson Home Health for the wonderful care give to Jackie the last several years.
