Inga Marie Moore
born 1963 - murdered 1994

R.N. 1997

In 2020 the Sherman Police Department reopened the 25 years old case with 2 persons of interest and requested the publics help to solve the murder.  Despite Olga Brister confessing to the crime to the police and serving 20 years in jail for volunteer manslaughter. After reviewing the case, the announcement was made by a Sherman detective working the case that there are potentially other suspects involved shown by physical evidence indicating multiple suspects.  A reward by North Texas Crime Stoppers has been offered for tips and investigation leading to an arrest and conviction.
On Thursday, May 26, 1994 Inga Moore, a resident of Savoy, reportedly left her job at Outreach Health Center and went to Cavender's Western Wear where she intended to purchase a new pair of boots for her son's 8th grade graduation gift.  However she did not attend her son's graduation nor did she return home that night.  After Mr. Moore reported his wife missing on Friday, May 27, 1994, a search for Olga began.
During Olga Brister's conversations with the police, it was discovered that she was an acquaintance of Tina Agent Fox, with whom she had shared a romantic relationship.  But Ms. Brister also reveled that Ms. Fox and Jerry Moore were having an affair but said that Mrs. Brister was aware of the her husband's affair.  Ms. Brister said that Mrs. Moore had asked her and Ms. Fox to meet in Sherman on Thursday, May 26 to discuss the matter and Mrs. Moore's plans to divorce her husband and seek custody of their 3 children.  The 3 women reportedly met outside of Cavender's and agreed to talk while on a car ride.  They headed towards Bells and stopped for a restroom break near Craft Road.  When Ms. Fox became ill, she asked to be driven to her parent's home in Denison.  The women who had been driving in 2 different cars, left Inga Moore's car on Craft Road at the site it was later found by local law enforcement.  After dropping Ms. Fox off at her parent's house, Ms. Brister said she drove Inga Moore back to her vehicle when they were surprised to see Jerry Moore and an unknown male waiting by the car.  Ms. Brister said she left Ms. Moore at her car and headed home.

At next predawn hour of 4 a.m. on Friday, May 27, Brister said that Jerry Moore came to her house, saying he had something important to discuss with her.  Ms. Fox returned to their shared residence after which Ms. Brister left the house to run an errand for  her roommate.  On her way to the store, Ms. Brister said that Mr. Moore flagged her down.  At which time she got into Mr. Moore's vehicle and he drove her to the site where Inga Moore's body was buried.  Ms. Moore's body was laid or carried and put into the grave.  No physical evidence of her being dragged was evident, indicating that Ms. Brister could would not have been able to do that by herself.
Ms. Brister told them that Mr. Moore had told her that he had accidentally shot his wife and wanted her (Ms. Brister) to confess to the murder because he didn't want to lose his children if convicted of the crime.  He then handed her handwritten instructions of what to tell the police and persuaded that she wouldn't be indicted because he had destroyed the evidence authorities would look for.  She said he also threatened to kill her if she did not do comply with his instructions.  Because of this threat and her close relationship with Ms. Fox, she agreed to take the fall.
Olga Moore's GMC van was found abandoned on Craft Road between Sherman and Bells.  Authorities noticed a flat tire on the van but found no signs of a struggle.  A search of the immediate area provided no clues as to Inga's whereabouts. On Saturday, May 28, 1994 Olga Jean Brister, 24, went to the Sherman police department and confessed to killing Ms. Moore.  She was immediately taken into custody and led investigators to what is now Mill Creek area, north of Pottsboro where just 70 feet off of the muddy dirt road. The Grayson County Sheriff's officers found a freshly dug shallow grave in which Inga Marie Moore's body had been buried in.  Officials determined the deceased had been shot 4 times with a .25 caliber handgun.  Brister was charged with murder.
Less than 2 months after her confessions, Ms. Brister recanted her confession and told law enforcement that she was threatened and coerced into confessing by Jerry Moore, husband of the deceased and recanted her confession.  Mr. Moore was having an affair with Tina Agent Fox, who was a good friend of Ms. Brister's.
Officers questioned the validity of Ms. Brister's confession because she had no reason to shoot Mrs. Moore.  Also because it seemed impossible for Ms. Brister to dispose of Mrs. Moore's body alone, the police believed Mrs. Brister did not act alone.
After reporting his wife missing, Jerry Moore was interviewed by Sherman Police again.  Mr. Moore hired an attorney within 24 hours of filing the report of his missing wife and the discovery of her body.  Mr. Moore stated that his quickly hiring an attorney was because the police insinuated that he had abused his wife and because of the $200,000 life insurance he had on his wife; money he used to pay off $10,000 credit care debt and funds to retain the services of his attorney.
