Van Alstyne, Texas -- Ina Langford almost made it - to age 101 in August. Ina passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at age 100. She lived a spirit-filled life and was a longtime member of the Van Alsytne Church of Christ, constantly studying her Bible and confident where she was going eternally.
Ina was an avid reader and especially loved tales of the Old West. She resided at Meadowbrook Nursing for the past eight years, spending her days watching old Roy Rogers movies. Ina always spoke highly of her workmates at the First National Bank of Tom Bean and the Grayson County Tax Assessors Office where she retired.
Ina was born August 8, 1915 to John and Edna Garland in Pilot Grove, Texas. She attended Pilot Grove School and graduated from Trenton High School. Ina played basketball at both schools and was next the shortest player at 5'2". The schools had winning teams and they were known as the Bloomer Girls because their uniforms were Bloomer Style down to just above the knees, the style at that time.
Ina married Bob Langford December 23, 1933. A son, David Langford was born in 1938. Bob passed away in 1992.
Ina Langford is survived by her son, David and wife June of Sherman, Texas; two granddaughters, Leslie Stewart of Denton, Texas and Sydney Scott and husband David of McKinney, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Spencer Stewart of Dallas, Texas, Audrey and Lane Stewart of Denton, Texas and David and Hannah Scott of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Frances Bush of Whitewright; and one brother Doug Garland of Sherman, Texas.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Hugh, Joe, Loy, Dwight, Gilbert and Clifton; three sisters Ray, Lennie and Noma; and grandson-in-law Daryl Stewart.
The family requests that memorial contributions to be made to the Van Alstyne Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Pilot Grove Cemetery with Shannon Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne also on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas. ~ ~ ~ Scoggins Funeral Home
