Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Russell, 83, were held at the Pilot Grove Baptist Church Saturday.  The service was conducted by Rev. J.A. Henderson, assisted by Rev. Howard McSpedden and Rev. Ben Bell, pastor of the Whitewright Methodist Church.  Burial was in the Pilot Grove Cemetery under the direction of Glen Earnheart.
Mrs. Russell died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Wright, on South Bond Street, Friday morning.  She was born September 28, 1856, in Mississippi, daughter of Caral and Susan Thompson.  Her parents came to Texas in 1869 and settled near Honey Grove.  On December 4, 1874, she was married to Henry Russell.  They moved to Pilot Grove in 1897 and resided in that community until the death of her husband several years ago.  Since that time Mrs. Russell has made her home with her children.  For many years Mr. and Mrs. Russell were active in church and community affairs of their community.  They were good neighbors and true friends and were held in high esteem by all who knew them.  Mrs. Russell had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years, and at the time of her death was one of the oldest members of the Pilot Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John Wright, Whitewright; Mrs. O.G. Bow, south of Whitewright; and Mrs. M.B. Aldridge, Durant, Oklahoma; seven sons, H.R. Russell, Oglesby; Wm. Russell, Durant, Oklahoma; Robert Russell, Southland; Tom Wheeler, Dick and Arthur Russell of the Pilot Grove community; a brother, Joe Thompson of Seagraves; 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
