Burials

Map

In the 1940s when Lake Texoma was soon to flood thousands of graves in places such as Hagerman, Preston, Cedar Mill, Locust and Woodville, the US Corps of Engineers offered assistance in locating graves needing relocation and obtaining the families' approval to move them.  By 1942, , 2,500 graves from 40 different cemeteries were slated to be moved.  The bodies were disinterred and placed in a new container and relocated to the new cemetery along with their original markers, if possible.
Of the 2,500 moved, the two graves of siblings were moved from the old Jones Family Cemetery in the Locust area to Paradise Cove Cemetery; these graves had only crudely inscribed field stones for markers. The graves are those of D.A. Jones and H.W. Jones.
Over the years Paradise Cove Cemetery has not been maintained, growing thick with brush and weeks and almost erasing the cemetery from memory.  A few years ago someone cleared the cemetery
