Denison - Funeral was held Monday afternoon at Antioch Baptist Church for Muriel A. Franklin, 65, of Denison, who died Thursday afternoon at a local hospital.  Rev. C.W. Gillespie and Rev. J.M. Dukes officiated; burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.  Smith Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Owens, Robert Harris, Marty Lopez, Rebinald Franklin, II, Moses Moore, Robert Brown, Jr., Lovey Pough, Jr., Vincent Williams, James Moore and Andrew Bryant, Sr.
She was born May 10, 1925, daughter of Henry and Daisy Smith in Denison.  She married George Hensley Franklin, who preceded her in death.
She was an LVN at Texoma Medical Center for 20 years.  She was a graduate of Anderson High School and Grayson County College; a member and Sunday School teacher at Antioch Baptist Church, and  a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include 3 sons, Henry L. of Gardenia, California; Reginald G. of Dallas; and Richard W. of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 daughters, Dianne Gillespie of Ft. Worth and Reginia G. Franklin of Dallas; a step-daughter, Evelyn Moore of Denison; brother, Richard W. Smith, Sr. of Chicago; sister, Elnora Robinson of Sherman; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
