Mr. James Devine, a boarding boss on the D. & S.E. railroad, fell from a wagon load of hay and under the wheels, on Friday, December 14th.  His vertebra was dislocated and he received some other injuries.  Drs. Acheson and Williams were at once summoned, but medical science was unavailing.  His body below the point of injury was entirely paralyzed, and remained in that condition until his death, which occurred last Saturday noon.
His funeral took place Sunday at 3 p.m., and was largely attended.  Devine was about fifty-four years old, and leaves a wife and several children.  He was beloved and esteemed by those who knew him.  The afflicted family have the sympathy of the entire community.
