A MONUMENT UNVEILED
To the Memory of Sovereign C.T.  Howe at Oakwood Cemetery
It is estimated that last least 800 people were present last Sunday to attend the unveiling of the monument erected by the Woodmen of the World to the memory of Sovereign C.T. Howe.  One hundred Woodmen came from Sherman, thirty from Whitewright, a large delegation from Whitesboro, also from Durant and other points.  The local lodge had a large turn out.  The procession started from Woodman hall on Woodard street, marched up Woodard to Burnett avenue, then east on Main street and thence to Oakwood.  The procession of men on foot was three blocks long, and the carriages stretched another block.  All the men in line wore the lodge badge and the procession was led by the Woodmen band.  Irrespective of the Woodmen of the World, there was a large outpouring of citizens who wished to pay their respects to the memory of one whom they admired and respected so much in life.
The unveiling services were conducted by Mr. Mathews of Sherman.  The Woodmen's poem was read.  The Rev. N.B. Reid was the orator, and delivered a most impressive address.  The monument is a beautiful and elaborate piece of workmanship.  The ceremonies at the grave lasted about two hours.
