S. J. Pike (Shadrach Jasper Pike)
After having lived in Grayson county for twenty-one years and wrought faithfully as preacher and teacher, S. J. Pike of Pottsboro heard the summons that all must answer and at 12:05 Tuesday passed peacefully away at the age of 64 years. He was minister in the Baptist church and at intervals taught school in the county. Many of his old pupils and those whom he led to the Savior have called at the home and will follow his remains to their last resting place. Death came as a result of dropsy of the heart.
Deceased came to Grayson County from Tennessee and his life has largely been spent in service in the rural communities and small towns. He had just closed a school at Mt. Zion. He is survived by his widow and three sons, W. J. Pike, Denison; David T. Pike, Holdenville, Okla; Albert (sic Elbert), Tulsa, Okla; and one daughter, Mrs. John L. Hodges, Benjamin, Okla.; all are present to attend the funeral with the exception of John L., who has not been located as yet.
Deceased was a member of the Woodmen of the World lodge at Dripping Springs. Funeral services will be conducted from the family home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Joe Thedford in charge, with Rev. Jas. E. Morris assisting. Burial will follow at Oakwood cemetery at 11 o'clock, a short service being held at the grave. Funeral will be directed by George Shields.

Sherman, Texas - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Pike, 77, who died Sunday at 3:45 a.m. at her home on East Munson street, Denison, were held Sunday afternoon from the Calvary Baptist Church of Denison, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. L. R. Lamb. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery near Denison under the direction of the Dannel-Scott Funeral home of Sherman.
Mrs. Pike is survived by three sons and a daughter, including D. T. Pike of Holdenville, Okla., W. J. Pike of Bennington, Okla., E. M. Pike of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. John Hodges of Denison. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, by a brother, Tom Moss and a sister, Mrs. Jennie East, both of Patrick Co, Virginia. Mrs. Pike was born in Patrick County, Virginia on June 17, 1856. She came to Denison from Bennington, Oklahoma in January, 1933, to live with her daughter.  She had been a member of the Baptist church at Ambrose for 50 years. Mrs. Pike was a minister of the Missionary Baptist Church from 1911 to 1916.  Her husband, the late Rev. S. J. Pike who was a minister of the Missionary Baptist Church, died at Pottsboro in 1921 and is also interred at Oakwood cemetery.
Grandsons of Mrs. Pike served as pallbearers.
