pg. 4

Mr. John May, for several years in the employee of Adams' express, this city, and well known to our citizens, died Thursday morning at his farm near Hudson quarter.  The remains were brought to this city for burial, and the funeral took place Friday evening.  Death was caused by a dose of morphine which he took by mistake for quinine.  After taking the medicine he went out to assist in loading cotton and fell down and almost immediately expired while at work.
