Denison - Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine M. Young, 90, resident of Denison since 1880, were held Thursday and burial was at Oakwood cemetery.
After a year's illness Mrs. Young died Wednesday at hoon at her home 800 E. Washington. She had resided in Denison for 63 years. Services were at the Short-Murray chapel with Rev. L.R. Lamb officiating and Rev. Bruce Hibbitt assisting. Interment was at Oakwood with Short-Murray directing.
Mrs. Young was born February 7, 1853 in Tennessee, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Burk. Her schooling was in that state. She was a member of the Baptist church. She was married to D.A. Young in Tennesse in 1875 and two years later Mr. and Mrs. Young moved to Texas. Mr. Young died in 1908.
Surviving are two sons, G.A. of Galveston and Roy H. of this city. Daughters are Mrs. R.S. Carlisle, Mrs. P.S. Cottle, both of Dallas; and the Misses Josephine and Annie Young of Denison. Sixteen grandchilren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
