RESIDENT NEAR CITY 35 YEARS DIES TODAY
Mrs. Mary Shipley, 70, a resident near Denison 35 years, died at 10:30 a.m. today at her home, 721 W. Florence street, following an illness of one week.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. from the Mills Branch (Cotton Mill) Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shipley was born as Mary Pierce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Pierce of Green county, Tennessee, and was reared and educated there.  She married Mr. Shipley in 1888 in Tennessee and resided there until 1896 when they moved to Dallas and later coming to Denison in 1903.  She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are five sons, C.D., J.A., Henry and J.B. of Denison; and L.A. of McKinney; three daughters, Mrs. J.H. Crites, Mrs. Mabel Carr, and Mrs. Eva Moore of Denison; two brothers, Will Pierce of Oklahoma City and James Pierce of Denison; and 28 grandchildren.

Following an illness of 2 weeks, James Robert Shipley, 78, 721 W. Florence, retired carpenter and resident of Denison 37 years, died this morning at 8:05 at his home.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Harris chapel, Rev. S.M. Roberts officiating.  Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Short-Murray directing.
Mr. Shipley was born June 15, 1864, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Shipley of Morristown, Tennessee, where he was reared and received his education.  He married Miss Mary Savonah Pierce, June 15, 1888.  The couple came to Dallas in 1896 where he farmed until they came to Denison in 1903.  Mr. Shipley became a carpenter here.  Mrs. Shipley died here April 1, 1939.  He was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are five sons, W.H., A.G., J.B., D.C., and L.A. Shipley, all of Denison; three daughters, Mrs. J.H. Crites, Mrs. M.A. Carr and Mrs. G.H. Moore, all of Denison; 24 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of this city.
