DEATH ROLL
E.B. Sims, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Denison, passed away Monday morning.  Mr. Sims had been an invalid for some years, but he was such a hopeful man that he always said that he expected to live many years yet, or as he jocularly remarked: "I intend to last long enough to see another Republican President elected."  Before death, he had been confined to the house for several weeks.
Mr. Sims came to Denison with his family in the seventies and his first business venture was to open a grocery house.  He was an active business man for a number of years and was very successful.  At that period no man was better known that Mr. Sims.  Old age and infirmities compelled him to eventually give way to the younger generation which was then coming forward.
Mr. Sims was a Virginian by birth and was married to a Virginia lady.  The fruits of the marriage were a large family.
Besides his widow, his living children are: Mrs. Polly L. Smith of this city; Mrs. Elizabeth Pierce Huffman of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Carrie Scanlan of Dallas; Mrs. Ella Lewis of New Orleans, Louisiana; Mrs. Eliza Hyde of Houston, Texas, and two sons, John and Hal.
The funeral took place Tuesday, the Rev. Bishop conducting the service.  The remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of citizens.  He was laid to eternal rest at Oakwood.
