CHILD DIES AFTER BEING BITTEN BY DOG NEAR SAVOY
From the Savoy Star

About 2 weeks ago they had a mad dog scare in the extreme west edge of town when Lark Wright's fine shepherd dog got very playful and bit several children and animals.
The children bitten are as follows: Margaret Pierce, Marene and Teddy Wright and Brown Morgan.
A short time afterward, the dog began acting peculiar and still a little later went into fits and died. Its head was immediately sent to Austin and in due time a telegram came back stating that its brain showed signs of rabies.
The children were immediately put under treatment and just about that time word came that 2 little boys over in Bells had been previously bitten by a large blue dog and that one of the boys was showing signs of hydrophobia, from which effects he died Sunday night.
It is now remembered that this same blue dog was seen several days before in this community and had had fights with other dogs and it is believed that it bit Mr. Wright's dog.  Of the 2 children in Bells bitten by the blue dog, one of them took the serum treatment and the other the mad stone, the latter not proving effective against the disease.
