Funeral services were conducted Wednesday for Mrs. Etta James, former Denison woman, who died at Terrell Monday morning after an illness of several months.  Interment was at Oakwood, following services at Short-Murray.
Born in Illinois March 6, 1861 as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.H. McEwen, she was reared and educated there, coming to Sherman later where she was married March 26, 1882.  They moved to Denison later, Mr. James serving the city as chief of police for several years.  They moved to Gordonville in 1923 where Mr. James died in 1933.  Since that time she has made her home at Terrell.
Surviving are four sons: J.B. of Muskogee; George of Chicago; L.P. of Dallas; and Joe D. of St. Louis.  A daughter, Mrs. M.L. Hutchins, lives at St.Louis.
