CONDENSED HOME NEWS
Tuesday, July 15 - Crawford Spurlin, an old and most respected citizen of Denison, died Saturday night at his home, No. 112 South Scullin avenue.  The deceased was a gallant Confederate Veteran of the Civil war, and participated in the disastrous battle of Gettysburg.  The deceased has been a resident of Denison for a number of years.  He was a kind hearted, noble old man; a true type of the Southern gentleman.  
He leaves a large family of children and stepchildren to mourn his loss.  These are Doctor Edward Glasgow, Mrs. Theodore Renois, of Paris, Tex., Mrs. T.S. Carter, and Mrs. W.J. Bolton, Frank Spurlin, of this city, and Mrs. T.P. Kane, of Ft. Worth.
He was a member of Denison Camp No. 560, U.C.V., and this organization attended the funeral yesterday and followed the remains to their last resting place in Oakwood cemetery.  The services were held at the family residence, Rev. A.J. Kincaid, of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
