DENISON - Washie N. Hogan, 78, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at the Homestead of Denison.

Mrs. Hogan was born in the home of her grandmother July 2, 1930 in Ravenna, the daughter of George Washington and Azeal (White) DeHorney. Washie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Washie was affectionately called "Bit" by her family, and "Chicken" by her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Washie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Hogan is survived by her loving family: sons, Clifton Hogan Jr. and Billy Hogan, both of Denison; daughters, Rosie Braxton and husband, Rev. Michael of Denison, and Nancy Pruitt of Sherman; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and sister, Dorothy DeHorney Kelly and husband, Rev. James P. of Denison; stepmother, Bobbie Topsy.
Washie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Washington DeHorney II.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry DeHorney officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6 -8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Smith, Trent Brown, Ronnie Kelly, Jason Watson, Jared Watson, Robert DeHorney and Eric McDade. Honorary pallbearers will be Fernando Braxton, Michael Braxton Jr., Robert DeHorney, Jesse Kelly, Billy Kelly and Thomas Rucker III.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 W. Main in Denison.
