Funeral services
for Levi Henry Davis were conducted Saturday at the Short-Murray Funeral  home following his death in a peculiar accident shortly after he had accepted employment in the bridge and building department of the Katy shops here.
Mr. Davis was working on a heavy timber at a planing machine when a driving wheel, revolving at high speed, burst, one of the pieces striking him in the neck.  He was pronounced dead when he reached the Katy Employes Hospital in an ambulance.  He had lost blood heavily.
Mr. Davis was born at Tioga, June 13, 1915, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Davis.  He received his schooling at Tioga and married Miss Jewel Newsom at Sherman January 8, 1938.
After residing in Collinsville, Mr. Davis came to Denison nine years ago, first working with a Katy section crew and later serving more than two years with the city fire department.  Four months ago he became a truck driver for the Denison District U.S. Engineers and this week went to the Katy's bridge and building department carpenter shop.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Barbara Jean, Joyce Marie and Mary Lou Davis, Denison; and three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Thomas and Miss Eva Davis, Whitesboro; and Mrs. Ida Ramsey, Denison.
