A FATAL ACCIDENT
One of the saddest accidents that the Gazetteer has had to record lately happened in the railroad yards at Denton Thursday morning.  Fireman C.H. Beck of Conductor Williams' crew went out early that morning on the Fort Worth local and reached Denton about 9 o'clock where it began delivering local freight and picking up cars for points farther south.  The train was being backed down to a car that was to be coupled onto and Beck was running along in the rear of the backing train fixing a link in a drawhead, when he stumbled and in an instant was beneath the wheels.  Two sets of trucks ran over his body at the hips actually cutting him in two.  Strange to say, when pulled from beneath the cars, he had not lost consciousness and showed no sign of pain.  When asked by his companion if he had any word he wanted to send back to his wife, he replied that he wasn't dangerously hurt and had no idea of dying.  It was evident to those about him however that he could not live, and he realized their expectations by succumbing to the effects of his injuries within the hour.
His remains were brought to this city Thursday night on No. 4, and were interred Friday in Oakwood Cemetery.
