  John Sidney Shires 1854 - 1932 Annie Julia Shires 1859 - 1952 The
funeral of John S. Shires of Hagerman, who died at St. Vincent's
sanitarium Thursday at 5 a.m. were conducted Friday afternoon from the
Baptist Church at Gordonville by Rev. S.F. Aiken of Sherman.
Burial was in Mt. Tabor cemetery under the direction of the
Dannel-Scott company.
Mr. Shires was 76 years old, being born May 22, 1855 [sic] in Tennessee. He had lived in the Hagerman vicinity for 60 years and for the last 6 years had been Justice of the Peace there. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Shires; 5 daughters: Miss Nettie Shires of Sherman; Mrs. J.W. Hegdon and Mrs. P.L. Miller of Pottsboro; Mrs. Laurie Lindsey of Hagerman; and Mrs. M.F. Russell of Gordonville; 3 sons, E.M. Shires of Henrietta; C.W. Shires of Duncan, Oklahoma; and John J. Shires of Amarillo.
