Jessie James Brown was born in 1953 to Rae E. Powell and Henry Powell, Jr. in Denison.  Jessie attended Denison High School and went to State in Track & Field as a Freshman competing against Seniors.  After graduating from Denison High School in 1972, he earned an Associate's degree from El Centro College, Dallas.  He spent the majority of his career in the banking industry with Bank of America, Dallas.  After returning to Denison after more than 30 years in the Dallas area, Jessie worked for more than 10 years at Tyson Foods, Inc. in Sherman as a dedicated and loyal employee, receiving several commendations on his high work ethic and perfect attendance before his retirement from the company.
Jessie was loved by his family and friends and was a kind, humorous, loyal family man, who loved the Dallas Cowboys.  Neighbors spoke highly of his kindness to everyone in the neighborhood, especially the children.
Jessie is survived by his children, D'Juan L. Brown and wife, LaTonya, of Greenville, Texas; Temeka E. Brown of Dallas; Jason V. Brown and wife, Katurina, of Denison; grandchildren Zavier Brown, Zarrien Brown, Jada Brown and Jaelon Brown; great-grandchildren, Zarrien Brown, Jr., and Zavian Brown; his mother, Rae E. Powell of Denison; sisters, Henrietta Hines of Sherman; Constance L. Brown of Denison; Barbara R. Powell of Denison; Dr. Hattie Powell of Denison; Monique Russell and husband, Sylvester, of Denison; and Victoria Powell of Denison; and brother, Ronnie E. Powell and wife, Monsita, of Denison; former spouses, Gloria Childs and Mary Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lillie Mae Coleman; father, Henry Powell, Jr.; and brother, Rogers Brown.
Graveside services were held Friday morning, October 25, 2018 at Fisher Funeral Home.  His son, D'Juan L. Brown, officiated.  Pallbearers were his nephews, Brandon Powell, Landon Powell, Ronnie Powell, Jr., Byron Powell, and Gregory Hines.  Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison. - - - Fisher Funeral Home
