Marilyn Horn Turman
13 March 1920 - 12 January 2017

Marilyn Horn Turman, 96, peacefully transitioned to her new life Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Denison, Texas.
Mrs. Turman was born March 13, 1920 in Denison, daughter of Woody Horn, Sr. and Maggie Gilliam.  She grew up and attended school in the Denison School District.  She was a member of Haven Chapel United Methodist Church, where the Horns were founding members.  Her husband, Robert Turman, preceded her in death.
Marilyn was a most caring and helpful person.  She spent her life helping others.  It is no surprise that she chose a career in nursing.  She relocated to Colorado but returned to Denison to care for her father and brother.  She proviced support to the community that included preparing Thanksgiving dinners for residents in the nursing homes up until her mid-90s.  She catered dinners for her church for a number of years.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends in person and during daily telephone calls.
Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory, niece, Debera Horn Williams (Leslie, Jr.); nephews, Harold Woody Horn and James Julius Horn (Gwen); and their children respectively, Deberina Atkinson (Josh), and Zeara Williams; Angela Horn, Joyce Horn and Harold Horn, Jr. (Erin); Dr. James Horn Moore (Torrence); her friends, Christine and Archie Favors, Rena Miles, Hattie Powel, Rhonda Williams, Jean Scruggs, and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.
Celebration of Marilyn's life was held Saturday morning, January 21, 2017 at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Rosaland Hilburn officiating.  Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison.
