Rev. M.C. Thomas, Pioneer Pastor, Called by Death

Funeral and burial services were held Sunday in the Macomb community, Grayson County, for the Rev. M.C. Thomas, 90, who spent more than half his life in the Methodist ministry.  He died Friday at the home of his son, J.J. Thomas, Midway Road and Northwest Highway.
A native of Alabama, he joined the church there and was licensed to preach at Cliff Springs, Ala. in 1880.  He came to Texas in 1905 and since then had held numerous pastorates in Grayson County.
He was active at his advanced age and last week returned from a visit to Alabama.
Thomas, who also had worked as a bricklayer, a mechanic and a hotel and boardinghouse manager, made a specialty of raising bees.  He was a Mason.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. S.A. Hudston, Macomb; Mrs. A.M. Lankford, Cullman, Ala.; and Mrs. W.S. Carter, Dallas; two sons, J.J. Thomas, Dallas; and T.J. Thomas, Whitesboro; twenty-four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
