SHERMAN - Graveside funeral services for Jessie Mearl Haliburton will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 14, at Macomb Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Henry will officiate with Tommy Brannum, Jessie Brannum, Travis Brannum, Joseph Mihalakis, Seth Haliburton, and Josh Haliburton serving as pallbearers. Mr. Haliburton, 82, passed away Friday, January 11, at the Homestead of Sherman.

Mearl was born August 25, 1930 in Leonard, Texas to the late Jimmy and Geneva (Green) Haliburton. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Haliburton was stationed in Newfoundland and Iceland. On March 3, 1957, Mearl married Nelda Walden
in Sherman. He worked at several gas stations in the Sherman area and also drove a truck making deliveries for Tex-Pack and Mistletoe Express. When he wasn't working, Mearl enjoyed fishing, racing pigeons, coon hunting, raising Bantam Roosters, and playing dominoes.


Mr. Haliburton was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nelda of Sherman; five children, Laura LaRock and her husband Bill of Iron River, Michigan, Allen Mihalakis of Sherman, Monte Mihalakis and wife Ruth Ann of Sherman, Susan Brannum of Sherman, and Anita Haliburton of Sherman; two brothers, Cecil and James Haliburton, both of Sherman; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Haliburton; and one brother, Ray Haliburton.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Sunday at Waldo Funeral Home.
