SHERMAN - D. W. Garland, 86, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010 at his home in Sherman.
Graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at McComb Cemetery in Whitesboro with Carroll Brown and Rev. Danny Wood officiating. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the fellowship hall of the First Methodist Church in Whitesboro.

D.W. was born in Pilot Grove on February 24, 1924, the son of Loy Garland and Ina Fay Sloan. He married Hope Thomas in Southmayd on May 18, 1946. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2009. He was an accountant/bookkeeper, served in
the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of West Sherman Baptist Church in Sherman.


He is survived by brothers-in-law Chesley and wife Joy Thomas of Oklahoma City, Okla., Andy Joe and wife Neva Thomas of Denton; sisters-in-law Peggy and husband Carl Richardson of Lubbock, Jean Bullock of Whitesboro, Jean Thomas of Napa, Calif.; aunts Frances Bush of Whitewright, Ina Langford of Van Alstyne; uncles Dwight Garland of Irving and Doug Garland of Sherman.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard Street, Denison, Texas 75020.
