Wanda June Thompson Pierce
2 December 1927 - 11 February 2013

Wanda June Pierce passed from this Earth to join her Heavenly Father on February 11, 2013. Our angel of a mother went to rest peacefully and was surrounded by members of her family. She will be sorely missed, but, we have our memories of her beautiful smile that reached all the way to her cornflower blue eyes.

Wanda June was age 85 and had lived a full life. She moved to Sherman in 1993 after retiring from her job of 31 years at Farmers Insurance Group in California. Her father, Elwood M. Thompson and his wife Kathryn had been long-time residents of Sherman and Wanda had visited many times throughout the years. She enjoyed oil painting and now she can paint to her hearts' content. She also enjoyed her flower gardens and taking care of them. She was able to do some traveling and got to see where her grandparents on her mother's side came from in North Carolina and got to see the old flour mill of which she captured with her paints.

Wanda was predeceased by her eldest son, Dale, and her daughter-in-law, Billie Pierce. She is survived by four children, Vivian Ruth Burton, Cheryl Founcein Pierce, Gregory David Pierce and Patricia Denise Mishoe; five grandsons, Paul Ryan Burton, Jeffrey Charles Burton, Christopher Michael Burton, Jarrod Dean Pierce and Samuel Tyler Pierce; one granddaughter, Alicia June Mishoe and three great-granddaughters, Amanda Grace Burton, Samantha Marie Burton and Angela Rose Burton. Also surviving her is an aunt, Annette Kee of Vallejo, CA and cousins, Patricia Gallo of Livingston, CA and Sally Erickson of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by two half-sisters, Martha Vree of Sherman, TX and Mary Kathryn Calderon of Blue Island, IL.

We would especially like to thank Grayson Home Health and Home Hospice for the excellent care and compassion shown to our mother and to us.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday February 14 at Luella Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Scott will officiate with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
