NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS ITEMS

Starr, Texas, February 9 - Since our last writing this community and the surrounding neighborhoods have been saddened by another visit of the death angel.  This time the victim was Mrs. Sallie Warnell, a pioneer citizen of Texas and also of Grayson county.  She died from natural causes, and had she lived until her next birthday would have been 90 years old.  She had lived in this community about 30 or 35 years ago, when she sold her farm and went to Denison to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mollie Stewart, an only child, at which place she was when the end came.  Her husband was a soldier in the Mexican War and also the Civil War.  He preceded her to the grave 45 years ago.  Up to the time of her death, she had been a hale and hearty woman.  She owes her long existence to the observance and obedience of the laws of health and nature.
Besides her daughter, a widowed sister, Mrs. Nancy Bolen, of Oklahoma, and a number of grandchildren, nephews and nieces survive.  One of her nieces, Mrs. Belle Shelton of Austin was with her when the end came.
The funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the grave by Brother Hodges of Denison, and interment was in Warnell Cemetery, the family burying ground.  A number of friends from Denison followed the remains to the grave and the little mound of mother earth was made beautiful with flowers while mourning friends stood 'round.  The bereft have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour.
