SHERMAN - Funeral services for John Francis Harder were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11 at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial followed at Locust Cemetery with Ian Osborne, Kevin Harder, Dennis Johnson, Bill Evans, Zachary Brown, and Dale Linton serving as pallbearers. Mr. Harder, 56, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Texas Heathcare Presbyterian-WNJ in Sherman.
John was born September 4, 1953 in Sherman at the Perrin Air Force Base to Frank and Betty (Scheel) Harder. He graduated from Tom Bean schools and worked as manager of Harder Brothers Auto for 27 years. John loved cars and was thrifty in nature, never discarding anything that might come in handy or could be used in the future. He will be remembered for his simple, country ways and his many friends who prove that he truly never met a stranger. John was of the Catholic faith and had been a member of the Elks Lodge for the last 12 years.
John is survived by one daughter, Erica Osborne and her husband Ian of Sherman; two grandsons, Dylan and Landon Osborne; his mother, Betty Harder; one uncle, Shad Harder; two brothers, Larry Harder and wife Pam and Steve Harder and wife Robin; two sisters, Kay Burton and husband Don and Sharon Segrest and husband Chris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Frank Harder; one son, Eric Todd Harder; his grandmother, Tusnelda Scheel; and one uncle, W.C. "Dub" Harder.
