Charles Frank Rotar, Jr.

Charles served in the U.S. Army and directed the 89th Army Band, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He graduated from Youngstown State University in 1949 with a bachelor of music education. He became a music director in 1952, and his career in music education touched many people. He taught in the Mahoning County, Ohio, and Neshannock Township, Laurel and Grove City school districts in Pennsylvania. He moved to Texas in 1976, teaching music as band director with Pottsboro, Tioga and Gunter school districts. He also served as choir and music director in many churches, most recently as director of Chancel Choir at First Presbyterian Church in Denison. He had many special friends within the congregation. He was active for many years in the Lions and Elks clubs and Masonic organizations.

Wife: Annette B. Rotar, married 28 years.

Relatives: a sister and brother-in-law, Betsy and Dale Dieter; children, Amy Wood and Paulee Wand, Donna Lemmons, Ken Sauer and Glenn Sauer; grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Wand, Jason Wood, Keely and Cole Sauer, Michael and Cherokee Sauer, Amanda, Jennifer and Jessica Lemmons and Megan McLemore; great-grandchildren, Ashley Wood and Aaden Anderson; and great-great grandson, Kade McLemore.
